What are early-career grants?
Early career grants are multi-year grants intended to help promising young faculty launch their research careers. Specific features of the grants vary by sponsor, but many programs provide awardees with dedicated time to focus on research projects, essential equipment to advance discovery, and graduate, undergraduate and postdoctoral researchers to work alongside them. Early career grants are also highly prestigious awards that reflect favorably on awarded faculty and their institutions.
Who awards early-career grants?
The two major categories of early career grants are the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) and the National Institutes of Health’s K Awards. In addition to these, a variety of other government agencies and non-profit foundations also offer similar grants.
How do I apply?
Applications for early career awards are administered through Baylor’s pre-award support office. Contact your assigned University Research Administrator as early as possible to begin the application process.
