Coming Thursday: “Working with DOD & Speaking Their Language” Webinar

The Office of Innovation & Economic Development, in partnership with BBCetc, is hosting a free webinar, “Working with the DoD & Speaking Their Language,” on Thursday, April 9th.

DoD SBIR and STTR programs offer researchers and small firms’ opportunities to address military needs across virtually every technology sector, from software and training systems to medical products and air, land, and sea platforms. Because DoD is a procuring agency, awardees have a clear path from solving a defined problem to selling a product making these programs a strong fit for faculty with translatable research. This webinar will cover how SBIR/STTR projects fit into DoD's procurement process and how to "speak their language" to improve your chances of winning Phase I and Phase II awards.

Date: April 9, 2026

Time: 2:00 – 3:30 PM CST

Cost: Free

PAPPG Policy Revisions

The following sections of the PAPPG are revised to align with NSF's Gold Standard Science implementation plan:

  1. Public Access to Research Products (Chapter XI.D.2.c)

  2. Dissemination and Sharing of Research Results (Chapter XI.D.4)

  3. Data Management and Sharing Plan (Chapter II.D.2.(i).(ii))

Please note that the revised NSF Data Management and Sharing Plan policy specifies that the plan must be generated using the new tool within Research.gov. However, this new tool has not yet been activated. Until NSF launches this tool, applicants should continue to upload the Data Management and Sharing Plan as a PDF. The new requirements are scheduled to take effect April 27, 2026.

Further Changes to the NSF  Public Access Repository (PAR)  include:

  • Removing the 12-month publication embargo from all Portable Document Format (PDF) product types.

  • Enabling input of Author Accepted Manuscripts (AAM) and Version of Record (VoR).

  • Making machine-readable versions of publications in Extensible Markup Language (XML) format available for download.
