OVPR Welcomes Craig Moehnke, Ph.D., as AVP for Research Facilities

Craig Moehnke, Ph.D., has recently been named Assistant Vice Provost for Research Facilities. Having previously served as Director of Baylor Sciences Building (BSB) for six years and as an employee of the College of Arts & Sciences (A&S) for 14 years, Moehnke brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Texas Lutheran University and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Baylor University. He has worked closely with A&S science departments in areas of instrumentation, lab design, lab renovation, and space planning, and has overseen the day-to-day operations of more than 140 research and teaching labs and four core research facilities housed within BSB.

In his new role, Moehnke will be responsible for oversight and management of research space at a university level. He will work closely with Baylor leadership, the Facilities and Operations group, and deans and faculty in all schools and colleges on research space planning, research space utilization, research lab design and construction/renovation projects. He will also be tasked with identification and development of new university core facilities that provide Baylor students, faculty, and staff with cutting-edge research technology.

Chris Becker, Ph.D., has been promoted to Director of BSB. Employed by Baylor for 11 years, Chris has been the Assistant Director of BSB for five years, and he also serves as Director of the University’s mass spectrometry core facility.
