IRB Regulation Changes Delayed Until Jan. 21, 2019
WACO, Texas – On June 19, 2018, federal agencies regulating IRBs announced a Final Rule (FR) that further delays by six months the effective date and general compliance date of the revisions to the "Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects" (also known as the Common Rule). The revisions to the Common Rule were scheduled to go into effect on January 19, 2018 and were subsequently delayed to July 19, 2018.
The FR delays the effective date and general compliance date to Jan. 21, 2019. Therefore, no changes to IRB forms, templates, processes and procedures will be made at this time.
